What is a project?
Projects brings participants together to work toward a specific purpose, whether it is a dance piece that will be presented in front of an audience, or training intensively for a period of time.
It’s an opportunity to build relationships with dancers you will learn and train with over the course of a few months.
The projects can take various forms depending on the artistic vision of the coaches and the participants engagements.

Cat’s Corner is launching a new season of Projects with LIVE MUSIC!
Did you know that Cat’s Corner has been an incubator for some of the most popular swing dance bands in town? It’s no wonder that our talents and project teams have been performing to live music regularly over the past decades!
Starting in the Fall 2025, we will pilote a new program to pursue our mission: Cat’s Corner will team up with a band per season. Little by little, all projects will benefit from the guidance of a band leader and their musicians. You will learn about music, develop listening skills, train to adapt your dance to the living music and develop a common bond… The teams will perform to live music at the end of each season, so make sure to save the date and not miss this precious opportunity!
It is a full session journey with the goal of training and/or performing a choreography at the end of the season. To ensure a great experience for all, we ask to respect the length of your commitment (Sept-Dec/Jan-March/April-June/July-Aug).
Projects trials and auditions take place in September, January and June. If you can’t attend the auditions, make sure to contact us and we’ll forward your requests to the coaches.

C-Jam Crew (C2)
TRIALS: Monday, August 25th, 2025
C-Jam Crew is an entry level lindy hop performance project that will focus on learning and performing a choreography. Join this dynamic team to learn your first choreographies: it's an experience not to be missed and the beginning of your lindy hopper journey!
PRE-REQUISITE: trials
Ease in the basic figures, in the combinations of rhythms and the various tempos (Lindy Foundations and equivalent)
Cool Cats Coleslaw Collective (C4)
AUDITIONS: Monday, August 25th, 2025
Our longest running performance project at Cat’s Corner, well known as the advanced group that is up for any challenge: fast, slow, tap, jam, improvisation and a spectacular performance with live music!
PRE-REQUISITE: level check at the auditions
Ease in the basic figures, in the combinations of rhythms and the various tempos (Lindy Open and equivalent).
Chorus Line Project
AUDITIONS: Tuesday, August 26th, 2025
Chorus Line jazz is like a dancing encyclopedia of vernacular jazz steps. You will explore the repertoire of the great showgirls of famous Harlem jazz clubs. The training will involve elements of tap dance technique.
PRE-REQUISITE: level check at the auditions
Ease in the basic jazz dance figures, in the combinations of rhythms and the various tempos (Lindy Open and some Solo Jazz and/or Tap experience).
Lindy Training
AUDITIONS: Monday, August 25th, 2025
A focus group with limited spots, for the purpose a training intensively without a performance project. Working with the same dancers and coaches will help you set your goals and refine your technique to help you best express yourself on the dance floor.
PRE-REQUISITE: level and commitment check at the auditions
Ease in the basic lindy hop and vernacular jazz figures, in the combinations of rhythms and the various tempos (Lindy Advanced and equivalent).
Balboa Project
TRIALS: will return in the future!
Take part in a Balboa focussed project, aiming at creating a motivating experience to train, play and explore! The season will end with a special creation built for you by the coaches.
PRE-REQUISITE: trials
Ease in the basic balboa figures, in the combinations of rhythms and the various tempos (Balboa Foundations and equivalent).
Blues Project
TRIALS: will return in the future!
Blues music is the best-known form of black music. Its dance is a deep and rich expression of the human experience. The project aims at gathering all blues dance enthusiasts who wish to learn and train with other motivated learners with a clear creative goal.
PRE-REQUISITE: trials
Ease in the basic blues dance figures, in the combinations of rhythms and the various tempos (Blues Foundations and equivalent).
Competition Project & Battle Training
TRIALS: will return in the future!
Dive deeper into Black social dance culture from a jam and battle perspective. The project aims to reconnect jazz dancers to an element of the original culture of the dance.
PRE-REQUISITE: trials
Ease in the basic solo jazz figures. Open to everyone with an interest in jazz and some dance experience.
