Cat’s Corner is proud to present to you a monthly cultural event: The Talkies. Each month, we screen films to educate, entertain and inspire interest in the history of jazz, from both the dance and music point of view.

This month, to celebrate Black History Month, we will be watching the movie Malcolm X (1992), a movie depicting the life of Malcolm X, an important figure of the civil rights movements in the USA. The movie also contains a Lindy Hop scene choreographed by Frankie Manning and Norma Miller.

This event is open to everyone and has free admission. It will take place at Cat’s Corner studio on Sunday January 31st 2016 from 6:30 pm until 9 pm. Talkies, diminutive for talking pictures, was a common name given to movies during the 1920s and 1930s.
