It is our pleasure to welcome you to Cat’s Corner this fall for swing dance classes. While we are trying to find our new normal, we notice that everything has changed. We are embracing it and looking forward to welcoming you to a new experience of learning jazz, moving your bodies and adapting to new challenges as they come.
Here is some information about what you can expect from us and what we ask you to agree to when signing up for a class this session.
About the classes & safety measures
Classes will be 1h15 minutes each with a break of 30 minutes to recirculate air and avoid any crowding in the entrance way. With your help we hope to keep classes starting and ending on time so that we can maintain this necessary break for safety.
We will offer several solo classes and a few bring-your-own partner classes. It is up to you to decide if there is someone in your household or social bubble that you feel comfortable dancing with. There will not be any rotation of partners in class. Everyone is of course welcome in the solo classes. Know your own covid-comfort zone and we will respect it.
Class sizes will be limited. Solo class will have 6-12 people each plus one teacher. Partnered classes will have 8 to 16 people (4 to 8 couples) with two teachers.
There will be floor markings to help you find two meters between each dancer or dancing pair. While everyone will be wearing masks at all times in the studio, we ask that you help maintain this distance as much as possible. All classes will be in Rockhead’s Paradise (big studio) with the ventilation.
There will be hand sanitizer available at the entrance. There is space to leave your coat and outdoor shoes and we will also recommend that you wash your hands with soap and water before and after the class.
The studio will be cleaned and high touch areas disinfected regularly. The bathrooms are available but we discourage their use other than for hand washing.
If you feel sick, stay home. Even if it’s just a cold, we ask you not to come. We know this means missing out on class for what feels like nothing so we will ask teachers and classes to record recaps of each class that can be shared with anyone who has had to stay home. This also means that you may not have consistency of teachers due to illness replacements.
We know now that it is possible the government regulations for indoor sports and leisure activities may change at any moment. In the likely event that we are no longer able to host indoor classes at the studio, the session will be moved online. We will maintain the same time slot and class group (and teachers where possible) and continue the session that was started. The October session is 4 weeks long.
All registration will take place in advance online (no payments at the door). When you sign up we ask that you confirm your willingness to abide by the following guidelines. If ever your situation changes and you can no longer agree to these guidelines, please let us know as soon as possible.
By signing up for this class you agree to:
– Wear a mask at all times while in the studio
– Wash your hands upon arriving and leaving
– Maintain 2 meters of distance as much as possible
– Stay home if you are feeling ill or have any symptoms of illness (cold, flu, or otherwise)
– Inform us if you have tested positive for covid-19 or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive.
– Stay home if you are returning from travel outside of Canada in the last 14 days
– Follow all public health directives in place due to the ongoing pandemic
For more detailed information about the guidelines as they affect our sector of activity:
We will only offer refunds in the case that the studio is forced to close before the class session begins. In this case we will move the classes online but you will have the choice of a refund if you prefer. If the studio is shut down after the session begins, we will not offer refunds but will adapt the online classes and content as best we can under the circumstances.
