Welcome to the world of swing dancing! We are a warm and inclusive community built around a common love for jazz music and a belief that everyone can dance if they want to.

Where to start?

Friday Nights

Try an introductory class on a Friday night at our NEW LOCATION 1956 Frontenac (in front of the metro!) You’ll learn the basics of how to dance with a partner and move and groove to jazz music, and you’re invited to stay for an evening of social dancing. We even have a live band once a month! Drop-in when you like.

Open House

Try a FREE class with us in early January or Septembre of every year. There is something for everybody. We’ll be glad to meet you. No partner required!

Join an 8-week session of classes

Our beginner series is 8 weeks long and you can come take classes once, twice or even 3 times per week! We recommending choosing one and coming regularly to meet the same teachers every week and get to know the group. You are welcome in both classes though if you want extra practice or miss a class for any reason. AND you’re invited to the Friday lesson for FREE when you’re registered to the beginner course so you can come review during the lesson and stay to practice and enjoy the social. You get access to up to 3 classes per week for 8 weeks. Check our schedule on our registration platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have no dance experience, where should I start?

The beginner class series or the Friday night intro lesson are for you! We have been teaching people with two left feet for over 20 years and you are among friends. Come give it a try!

Do I need a partner?

You can come alone, with a partner or with a friend, the choice is yours. In class you’ll be encouraged to dance with everyone in the room but you can stay with the person you signed up with if you prefer. You’ll learn more by dancing with others and we even encourage you to try both dance roles (lead and follow)

Is there a dress code? What should I wear?

There is no dress code, come as you are. Whether you are coming straight from work or running errands, whatever you are comfortable in is perfect. We recommend bringing indoor shoes especially in the winter, but nothing fancy. A well worn pair of sneakers is great, anything flat with smooth soles is good

Where can I find some swing music to practice to?

We have some playlists up on spotify that you can listen to at home and get a feel for the groove of swingin’ jazz music between classes. Check it out here: https://open.spotify.com/user/catscornerdjs
