Cat's Corner Fridays

Montreal's longest running swing dance night since 2001

Cat's Corner Fridays

"With a convenient location downtown, (near the McGill metro), student discounts, a spacious hard wood floor studio and friendly staff, it tops my list of swing destinations."

- Gill Prendergast

Montreal Nightlife and Entertainment. Every Friday night, Cat's Corner opens its doors for an evening of dancing, socializing, and good times. It's the place to practice your moves, to meet other dancers, and to have fun! We have the best DJs from Montreal spinning swing tunes for you all night long, in one of the most beautiful studios that Montreal has to offer. Please bring a pair of clean, non-marking shoes!

The Beginner Lesson

Never danced before? Want to introduce some friends to swing dancing? Or perhaps you just want to brush up on your basics. You've come to the right place! A free (with cover charge for the soiree) one hour crash course is offered at 8:30 pm - it's guaranteed to have you stepping in time in no time flat. Afterwards, practice your moves, meet other dancers, or simply enjoy the music!

The Atmosphere

A casual and friendly atmosphere is what characterizes Cat's Corner's dance nights. While most people are undoubtedly to be found on the dance floor, you'll also find people relaxing (or catching their breath!) at our juice bar and sitting area. We are also proud to offer a smoke-free environment for your dancing pleasure.

Social Dancing

If you're new to social dancing, or to swing in particular, one of the first things you'll notice is what a friendly atmosphere it is. Women and men alike find it a safe and comfortable environment in which to dance and socialize. Truly an all-ages venue, there's something in it for everyone!

Gill Prendergast writes in her article on swing dancing in Montreal, "Swing dancing is supposed to be fun. ... don’t be shy to ask someone more experienced than you to dance. Dancing with an experienced dancer is the one of the fastest ways you can improve your skill." (see the "In the Press" page for the entire article)
