Volunteer Corps
History of the Corps
As the public face of Cat's Corner, the Volunteer Corps forms an integral part of our mission of promoting swing dancing in the community.
The Corps was started in the summer of 2002 when several cash-strapped students asked if they could work for us in exchange for course tuition. We thought, "why not?" The rest, as they say, is history.
So You Want to be a Volunteer...
As for how this relates to you: We know that you're generous, but we certainly don't expect you to help us without getting something in return. Thus, we have created the ultimate in fair exchanges. In appreciation for your help, you will be paying half price for your course. Not a bad deal!
Here's How it Works
It's simple. Select Volunteer Corps during the registration process to join up. During the process we'll take an inventory of any special skills you might have. After the course starts (or maybe before), we'll get in touch with you to figure out what kind of job you can do for us.
These jobs might include:
- Putting up some of our posters around a designated area.
- Helping with studio maintenance.
- Participating in a guerilla marketing campaign.
- Something special using your skills.
Why Else Should I Join?
Asides from exercising your generous nature, the Volunteer Corps is also a great way to meet people and have fun!
